SYDNEY & SURROUNDS
Blue Mountains & Hunter Valley -
A Helicopter Experience
Distances in Australia can be surprisingly vast. This excursion
is an opportunity to capture the classical Sydney back country destinations,
all in the one day. The first leg of the journey is by rail, travelling
inland towards the Blue Mountains on an intercity train. This two-hour
journey travels through the gracious suburbs & outer villages of
Sydney where early settlers made their mark along the rail line.
Slowly the train climbs into the Blue Mountains passing through
a network of villages before reaching the village of Medlow Bath
and the Hydro Majestic Hotel. Here you take in the spectacular views
of the escarpments and valleys below while enjoying morning tea.
Your helicopter then takes you over the Blue Mountains National Parks
towards the Hunter Valley. Most visitors only gain a small taste of the
majesty of the Blue Mountains but your pilot will ensure you gain the
full impact of the vastness of this spectacular bushland region. After
a one hour flight over this extensive hinterland that includes the hidden
valleys of the ancient Wollombi Pine you arrive in the heart of the Hunter
Valley Wine Country for an afternoon of lunch and wine tasting.
The helicopter lands in the Peppertree Vineyards home to Robert's Restaurant.
In the homestead first built in 1867 you can select from a full a la carte
luncheon menu and dine on the terraces overlooking the vineyard. There
is also an opportunity for a private tour, wine tasting & purchase of
premium wines at the cellar door. The afternoon flight back to Sydney
follows the coastline from the Hunter River, south to Palm Beach, the
Hawkesbury River, onto Manly at the entrance of Sydney Harbour then across
the Harbour over the Opera House & Harbour Bridge. L
