NORTHERN TERRITORY
BULLO RIVER STATION
Bullo River Station is a privately owned half a million acre cattle property in the remote and isolated North Australian Outback. We offer tailored holidays in this unique and spectacular wilderness which is truly one of the last frontiers left in the world today.
Bullo River Station was previously owned by Sara Henderson, author of the best selling book from "Strength to Strength". The Station is now owned by her daughter Marlee and son-in-law Franz. The most visually exciting and dramatic arrival at Bullo is by air which captures the scale and beauty of the station. The countryside is spectacular and full of interesting plants and animals. There are massive gorges along the river that create an oasis of lush trees and wildlife. Some of the typical plants and trees around the oasis include native figs, pandanus and fine leaf or weeping paperbarks (Melaleuca leucadendra) that flourish around the water's edge. The tidal river fed by the ocean mixes fresh water with saltwater providing the opportunity to view saltwater crocodiles around the gorges and river area. The desert areas on the property also boast many amazing plants such as the Baobab Tree (Adansonia gregorii) which the locals sometimes refer to, erroneously, as the Bottle tree. They lose their leaves in the dry season and have large woody pear-shaped fruit. The bulbous base of the tree stores water for survival through the dry season and their appearance is that of a tree that has been uprooted and shoved back in the ground with its roots in the air. The 80 kilometer long Bullo River flowing through the property provides the opportunity for fresh and tidal salt water fishing. It joins the spectacular Victoria River, one of the largest and most remote rivers in Australia.
