WESTERN AUSTRALIA
BROOME'S BOUTIQUE BED & BREAKFAST
Beautifully renovated and surrounded by the lush tropical gardens populated by exotic birds, this historic house is a magnificent boutique 6 bedroom guest house. Offering privacy and comprehensive personalised service to individuals or small groups, the graceful two-storey heritage bungalow complex is truly one of the most exclusive places to stay in Australia.
The House is situated in quiet, relaxing surrounds in the centre of Old Broome with easy access to shops, restaurants, galleries, museums and other attractions. It is ideal for visitors who seek that special and memorable holiday venue. It has all the homely charm of a bed and breakfast and the sophistication of a resort, but neither description quite fits. And that's its appeal - there's nothing else like it.
Made in the traditional and unique architectural style of Broome, from iron ore and timber, the House has an ambience of tranquillity and comfort. Lord Alistair McAlpine of West Green, England, purchased the house from the original family in 1982 and carried out extensions in keeping with the architectural style of the original house. He also planted an extensive garden and housed exotic birds which still reside at the House today. It was Lord McAlpine's residence when in Broome for the next 10 years. The House was sold to the current owners, Colin and Cheryl Wilkinson, who tastefully rejuvenated the wonderful historical house and transformed it into one of the most exclusive guest houses Australia has to offer.
The House boasts historic warmth coupled with modern features. Offering a choice of home style accommodation in six air-conditioned double rooms it has an executive suite, two ensuite rooms and three verandah rooms. All are exclusively furnished with Javanese furniture and named after Lord McAlpine's favourite birds.
